New guidance on dormouse survey requirements

Natural England's new Interim Advice Note seeks to clarify the survey requirements for dormouse mitigation licence applications. In particular, the note highlights the need for data to be recent (from the preceding survey season) and collected over a sufficient period. Surveys that have attempted to collect more data within a short timeframe by using a higher density of nest tubes or checking them more frequently are not acceptable.
