Newton Leys, a major housing development

Taylor Wimpey Plc. asked us to provide a full range of ecological services in conjunction with Terence O'Rourke for Taylor Wimpey's development of 1550 homes and the associated educational, retail and commercial infrastructure at Newton Leys.    

This proved to be a very interesting project due to the complexities of dealing with a total of 12 Phases of development located in varying habitats including arable, freshwater, woodland and chalk grassland, the latter designated as a Local Nature Reserve.

Services provided included initial Phase 1 site walkover surveys and assessments, Phase 2 protected species surveys and mitigation strategies to accompany the Planning Application, Natural England licence applications, the erection of over five kilometres of great crested newt and reptile fencing and the translocation of great crested newts under licence.
