Summer Bat Surveyors

Please note the 2019 recruitment and training scheme has now closed. Please keep an eye on our website for updates regarding the 2020 scheme - applications are usually accepted annually from January.

Looking to gain work experience in ecology for your CV? Or are you an experienced/licensed bat surveyor with availability? Are you available during evenings/early mornings during the summer?

Each year, ECOSA relies on a pool of skilled bat surveyors to help deliver our busy survey schedule. If you have a keen interest in ecology, are looking to increase your knowledge and gain valuable experience in this field of work and are available to undertake surveys during the summer months (evenings and early mornings), ECOSA would like to hear from you.

Full training from experienced ecologists will be provided. We look for a high standard of work and competence in producing clear and thorough results. Applications from licensed bat workers or experienced bat surveyors are particularly welcomed.

You will need to be available for dusk and dawn bat survey work and be based in Hampshire or the adjoining counties. You may be required to travel further afield for survey work and stay in accommodation overnight. Having your own transport and a full driving licence is therefore essential.

How to Apply

Please email your Curriculum Vitae, ensuring to highlight all relevant knowledge, experience and skills, and a covering letter with your likely availability during the summer survey season, for the attention of Alexandra Nicholls (Company Administrator) at

Please let us know how you found out about this opportunity and title your email in the subject line 'Summer Bat Surveyors 2019'.

We aim to respond to applicants during January to March. Successful candidates must be able to attend an evening training session at our head office in Hampshire during early April (date to be confirmed).
